Price of Sugar Not So Sweet

I’ve been seeing some articles reporting that the U.S. may experience a shortage of sugar causing prices to go up an astonishing 40 cents per pound

For those of you who buy in bulk,  it may be a good investment to stock up on sugar before the prices rise. I buy my sugar at a warehouse store in 25lb bags then transfer them into food-grade 5-gallon buckets with a lid. As long as you store your sugar in a cool, dry place that is also protected from varmints, your sugar should last a really long time. You may consider buying Gamma Seal Lids which allow you easier access. I like to take small amounts (like 2 quarts) in rubbermaid containers in my kitchen pantry for day-to-day use.
